A Message from Our Founder

Thank you for visiting AfroPuffLtd! I’m so proud of the work we do here and sincerely hope the clothes you buy bring joy
to the little one who will wear them.

Clothes-making is my passion; as a child I would make dresses (and even underwear) for my dolls. After A Levels I enrolled on an arts course at the London College of Fashion which led to an HND in pattern cutting. Then studying languages took over my time - it was in 2016 that I reconnected with my love for clothes-making when a family member sadly passed away. Hearing stories at their funeral about all the things they had achieved by the time they had reached my age was a wake-up call for me, and I decided it was time to take a chance in bringing this dream into reality; up to that point I had been putting it off and not feeling quite ready - that moment inspired me to start really living my life.

Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength. As well as our growing customer-base via the online store, Etsy and Instagram, we have appeared at pop-up shops all over London - our debut at the New Beacon Bookstore Marketplace in Finsbury Park marked a huge step towards my vision and it was beautiful to have my daughter and best friend supporting me in taking that step. We have also featured in pop-ups by Crafty Nolo based in Tottenham, the Peckham Pexmas Christmas market, events by Synergy Pop-up Group, London City Hall, Bookandkulture, a Janet's List pop-up and partnership with Coco De Mer, and a pop-up at the Somerset House Get Up Stand Exhibition that led to us being stocked in their main gift store.

I'm drawn to bright and vibrant prints with small patterns that translate easily onto little outfits. My manufacturer always provides high quality, colour-fast fabrics with skin-safe dyes used that are suitable for children. Every season we'll be bringing through a new selection of fabrics to keep our designs fresh; my longer-term plan is to build relationships with fabric suppliers and makers in Africa so I can source the materials directly, giving back and supporting traders on the continent.
Launching AfroPuff Ltd has really felt like coming home to something I enjoy. It gives me a sense of pride, taps into a skill I love developing further and is a great example to show my children living proof that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it. It's a joy to have you along on this journey; follow us on Instagram, sign up for the newsletter and we hope you feel the love in every piece of clothing we make.

Sending you little rays of sunshine,
